Bernabeu Stadium & Real Madrid

Bernabeu Stadium & Real Madrid

Real Madrid is Madrid’s number one football club (Sorry, Atletico). For their supporters, the so-called Merengues, it is more of a religion. These guys take their football quite seriously, so if you are planning on going to a team you better be routing for Real.

The club was started in 1902 and became a global force in the middle of the twentieth century dominating soccer in Spain and the rest of Europe.

Real Madrid is famous for being the richest football club in Spain and the second richest in the world, only to Manchester United. The club is worth almost two billion American dollars. Its long time rivals and neighbors, Barcelona FC, has kept Spain divided in the football world for decades. Real Madrid has won 32 La Liga titles and 9 European Cups, along with numerous other prestigious titles.

The football club and the city have and always will be strong magnets for the greatest football players in the world. It seems that almost all of the greats play here at one time or another.

Star players here in the present and past include Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul Gonzalez, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo and David Beckham.

Estadio Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is the home to Real Madrid and has been since 1947. It is one of the largest football stadiums in the world holding over eighty-five thousand people at one time!

It can be found in the Chamartin district of Madrid and is not easy to miss. It has its own subway station on Line 10 called Santiago Bernabeu which makes it very accessible. Somehow, when it was first people it accommodated over one hundred twenty thousand viewers, but due to safety regulations the number had to be decreased.

Watching a football game here is invigorating and if you look ahead of time it is possible to get seats for any of the great matches that take place on this pitch.

Ticket prices can vary from thirty Euros to well over three hundred Euros depending on where you want to sit and which match you are going to. Somehow, tickets do sell out so it is good to be proactive if you are set on catching a game.
